Puppy Chow for Kids

I think everyone had puppy chow growing up. Cereal covered in chocolate and peanut butter sprinkled with powdered sugar. If you didn’t then you need to make some!

Since we now have Sunbutter that’s exactly what I did! I cook a lot for my family but the sweet stuff I just don’t do. Frankly because there’s not much I can make with our options.

Super excited for puppy chow I quickly grabbed everything I needed.

9 cups corn chex (you can use any type of safe cereal really. I remember once my aunt used crispy critters cereal and it looked like we were actually eating puppies)

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup peanut butter (sunbutter)

1/4 cup butter

1tsp vanilla

1-1/2 cups powdered sugar

I cut the recipe in half.
1.Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside.
2.In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla.
3. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated.
4. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag. Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. (I didn’t have any powdered sugar so I skipped this step.
5. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
Once cooled we all tried it. Charlie and I loved it. Gage was iffy, again. He’s eaten some of it but not as much as Charlie has! Yay! A new treat I can make.
